Mrinal Sen's biopic Padatik got its trailer launched
The trailer of Padatik, the upcoming Bio pic of ace filmmaker Mrinal Sen got launched in presence of Cast and Crew. Director Srijit Mukherji along with actors Korak Samanta, Monami Ghosh, make up artist Somnath Kundu, costume designer Sabarni Das, producer Firdausul Hasan and others.
Chanchal Chowdhury who plays the role Mrinal Sen in major part of the was absent due to other commitments and will reportedly join the Padatik team for promotion from next week.

Srijit Mukherji
During the event director Srijit Mukherjee said, “My first rendezvous with Mrinal Sen’s work was when I was around 10 years old. I watched Akaler Sondhane. The film within a film structure influenced me a lot and helped me during the making of Autograph.”
When Glamtrek asked him how he struck upon the idea of making a Biopic on Mrinal Sen, Srijit said, “I always felt that Mrinal Sen is not as Celebrated as Satyajit Ray and Ritwick Ghatak. Also, his birth centenary was approaching. So, we started our research during lockdown. We started this project around 2022. “
About the extensive research Srijit had gone through to make this biopic, he said, “The most challenging part of the research was what needed to be kept in the movie and what to be left out. Few books like Tritiyo Bhuvan and Banhi helped me a lot during the research. I also read a lot of articles by Mrinal Sen as well as many articles written on Mrinal Sen by other authors. So, these were our primary methods of research.”
Monami Ghosh
Monami Ghosh who was looking pretty as ever in a saree , said “Playing Mrinal Sen’s wife Gita Sen was quite challenging as there were only a few video footages of Gita Sen apart from the films she has acted in. What I knew about her is that she was a very good Homemaker too apart from being a versatile actress. She would not let any guest leave her house until she fed them generously. Gita Sen was a very caring and grounded person. I tried to bring that persona as much as possible.”

Korak Samanta
Korak Samanta, who plays the younger version of Mrinal Sen, said “One day Srijit da called me and asked to meet him immediately while I was travelling in Metro rail, I rushed to Friends Communication office. There Srijit da broke the news that I have to play the role of young Mrinal Sen. It took me some time to digest what I heard and reassemble myself.”
When Glamtrek asked Korak about the feelings of getting into the skin of Mrinal Sen, he said,, “It was somewhat surreal to be playing Mrinal Sen. Mrinal Sen’s El Dorado , i.e. Kolkata is much different from what the city is now in 2024. So we had to shoot at the handful of places still standing since 1950’s. And getting into the costume and characters belonging to 70 years back was a feeling indescribable in words.”
Firdausul Hasan
Producer Firdausul Hasan said, "Mrinal Sen was a revolutionary filmmaker. I am very happy to be able to produce his Biopic directed by another ace director of our time. I am sure Mrinal Sen's biopic Padatik will be as popular as Mrinal Sen's own movies.
Ace makeup artist Somnath Kundu mentioned that his biggest challange as a makeup artist was to sync the looks of Chanchal Chowdhury and Kodak Samanta. I needed to convince audience that both are same persons. So I have to work a lot on making the skin tone of Chanchal Chowdhury and Kodak Samanta to look similar.
Padatik is releasing on 15th August
